European Strategic Autonomy in the Transatlantic Security Context: American Perceptions of European Security and Defence Integration European strategic autonomy has gained a great deal of attention in the past years but, apart from a few exceptions, the focus has been predominantly Euro-centric. Consequently, the American perspective has been overlooked, and scholarly attention has, so far, lacked a more systematic, long-term review on American approaches to European strategic autonomy. This doctoral dissertation fills some of the scholarly gap by reviewing European strategic autonomy from the US perspective.
